North End Community Improvement Collaborative, Inc (NECIC) will hold their February Citizen Action Sector meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 5 p.m., at NECIC, 199 N. Main St., Mansfield. The focus of this month’s meeting will be the introduction of their new endeavor, North End Neighbor Up Night.
“North End Neighbor Up Night is an opportunity for neighbors to come together and empower each other,” said NECIC Community Organizer Kay Smith. “When neighbors work together, things get done and neighborhoods improve.”
The program is designed to bring residents together for networking and community-building. “We share a meal, we share our thoughts, our hopes, our experiences, and our plans,” explained Smith. “Through this, they learn what we do here at NECIC, how we can support their efforts, and what they can take back to their neighborhood.”
North End Neighbor Up Night will be held monthly, offering food and fellowship at each meeting. The initiative encompasses more than just an indoor meeting, though. Swap meets, block parties, porch parties, or other events brought forward by the neighbors will play a role. “It can be really big or it can be really small, but either way, it will start change,” said Smith.
North End Neighbor Up Night is open to everyone. “We’d like to see this spread outside of the North End. It’s a North End initiative, but you can take an idea back to your neighborhood and move forward.”
For residents interested but unable to attend the Feb. 20 meeting, call Kay Smith at 419-525-3101 or email Kay@necic-ohio.org.
