Candidates Night to focus on North End concerns

North End Community Improvement Collaborative, Inc. (NECIC) will host Meet the Candidates Night on Wednesday, October 17, from 6 to 8 p.m., at their office, 134 N. Main St., Mansfield. In addition to their platform, candidates will be asked to share their views on issues of importance to North End residents, especially resident recommendations outlined in the NECIC North End Community Economic Development Plan, concisely explained in its Executive Summary.

 “NECIC has hosted several candidate forums over the years, and we appreciate the willingness of our local candidates to share their platform, while at the same time, familiarizing them with the concerns of the North End Community,” said NECIC Executive Director Deanna West-Torrence.

“We hope to give our local candidates an opportunity to speak to the issues that the community put forth in the North End Community Economic Development Plan. These are priorities that the community has established, and we want to hear how those things will be addressed through the various offices,” she continued.

For those unable to attend, NECIC will livestream video of the forum via their Facebook Page and Instagram, as well as live-tweeting on their Twitter page. Residents may ask questions in those forums to be relayed to candidates. Use of #NorthEndVotes2018 is requested to help spread the word and encourage residents to vote. “The importance of voting cannot be overstated, particularly among individuals who are minorities,” said West-Torrence. “Unfortunately, those who vote the least often have the most to lose. It is imperative that people not only vote, but be informed voters. It is a right and a responsibility.”
