On Wednesday, January 17, 2018, the Richland County Regional Planning Commission selected NECIC for their Excellence in Planning Award. I was honored to have been able to participate in the awards Program as one of five keynote speakers, including Mankind Murals founder Luke Beekman, Jay Miller of DRM Productions, Inc., Richland County Commissioner Tony Vero, and OSU Professor Dr. Kip Curtis in presenting forward thinking presentations on community involvement, creative placemaking/public art, transportation, leadership and the proposed Eco-Lab at the Ohio State University.
The presentation was a great way to start the year, highlighting past, present, and future wins. The presentations, each five minutes in length, gave the audience of mostly public officials and community leaders an opportunity to view an expanded vision of the community planning function and how we can re-think local problem-solving within the public sector. Kudos to Regional Planning Director, Jotika Shetty, and the staff for the visionary leadership they demonstrate in Richland County.
