Winter Internship: Community Organizing Support

Position Summary:

The North End Community Improvement Collaborative, Inc. (NECIC) seeks a motivated Winter Intern to assist with community organizing initiatives. This role supports NECIC's mission to uplift the North End by fostering community connections and resident engagement.

About NECIC:
Founded in 2006, NECIC focuses on improving the quality of life in Mansfield's North End by addressing community needs and combating disinvestment. NECIC's service area includes census tracts 6, 7, and 16 in Richland County, Ohio.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Under the guidance of Interim CEO Tony Chinni, the Winter Intern will support NECIC's community development programs. Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting with resident engagement programs like Neighborhood Action, My Brother’s Keeper (MBK), and NECIC Youth Violence Program
• Promoting the Small Grants program and recruiting youth for NECIC initiatives
• Liaising with residents, associations, and institutions to address concerns
• Conducting asset-mapping and capacity inventories for ongoing and future projects
• Convening community partners such as schools, faith-based groups, and nonprofits
• Supporting facilitation of My Brother’s Keeper and Youth Violence Program
• Identifying resident leaders and helping develop ongoing resident leadership
• Conducting outreach at community events (with prior approval)
• Processing data and reporting on Community Organizers' work
• Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Enrollment in an accredited college, university, or trade program
• Self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management abilities
• Ability to work both independently and within a team
• Comfortable engaging with individuals from diverse backgrounds
• Valid driver’s license and insurance required

Benefits:
Compensation: $12.00/hour for up to 210 hours.
