Youth are a strong North End asset. In order to encourage them in developing leadership and problem solving skills, NECIC has instituted Youth Grants. Youth violence is prevalent in the community, and these grants offer youth a means to find their own solutions and lead their peers in ending community violence.
To receive one of the $300 grants, funded by the Connections Fund at the Richland County Foundation, teams of three or more youth must put together a project that impacts youth violence. NECIC staff will mentor youth in writing their grant, find partnerships and collaborations, and effectively communicating their goals.
